Description

Build your cognitive routine around more than just short-term stimulation. LION'S MANE delivers 1400 mg of Lion's Mane extract from the fruiting body of Hericium erinaceus, standardized to 40%, for adults who want to support cognitive function as part of a consistent, long-term performance lifestyle. Designed for entrepreneurs, professionals, students and other high-achievers, it is an ideal daily addition for those who value sustained mental performance, focus and brain-focused nutritional support.

The fruiting body of Lion's Mane contains compounds called hericenones, along with polysaccharides such as beta-glucans. In cell-based laboratory research, hericenones have been studied for their interaction with nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein involved in normal nerve cell function, although whether this happens in people is still debated. That research interest is why Lion's Mane is taken daily to support normal cognitive function, mental focus and concentration.

MitoGenix Lion's Mane is made for healthy adults aged 18 and over who want a daytime supplement that fits a demanding schedule: long working days, study, training, travel and the decisions that come with them. It is taken with food, early in the day, and the label gives both a standard and an enhanced serving so you can match intake to the day ahead.

It is a single-ingredient product with no proprietary blends. The label declares the extract concentration and the amount delivered per capsule as two separate figures, so you can see what each serving contains.

The following describes published research on the ingredient. It is not a claim about this specific product.

Research on Lion's Mane in people is still limited to small, short trials, and the findings are mixed. Studies suggest a possible role in cognitive performance in adults: Mori and colleagues (2009) gave 30 adults aged 50 to 80 tablets supplying 3 g of dried Lion's Mane fruiting-body powder a day for 16 weeks, and scores on a cognitive function scale were higher than placebo at weeks 8, 12 and 16, then fell back once intake stopped. Saitsu and colleagues (2019) reported that 31 adults over 50 taking 3.2 g of fruiting-body powder daily for 12 weeks scored higher than placebo on the Mini Mental State Examination, while two other memory tests showed no difference between the groups. Research in younger adults is less consistent. Docherty and colleagues (2023) found that 41 healthy adults aged 18 to 45 completed the Stroop task faster 60 minutes after a single 1.8 g dose, but 28 days of daily use showed no broad cognitive improvement and one word-recall measure favoured placebo. Surendran and colleagues (2025) gave 18 healthy adults aged 18 to 35 a single 3 g dose of a 10:1 fruiting-body extract and found no overall effect on composite cognitive or mood scores, with better performance on one manual dexterity task. Every study above used more than this product's 1400 mg standard serving, and each used a different preparation from the 40% extract in MitoGenix Lion's Mane, so the amounts are not directly comparable.

Lion's Mane compared with Alpha-GPC. Alpha-GPC is a choline compound: it supplies choline, which the body uses to make the messenger molecule acetylcholine. Lion's Mane is a mushroom extract whose compounds, including hericenones and beta-glucans, are studied through a different route. The two share no active ingredient, and MitoGenix sells each as its own single-ingredient product.

Lion's Mane fruiting body compared with mycelium. The fruiting body is the mushroom itself, while mycelium is the root-like network it grows from. Hericenones are found mainly in the fruiting body and erinacines mainly in the mycelium, so products made from each part carry different compound profiles. MitoGenix Lion's Mane uses fruiting-body extract, and the label says so.

Lion's Mane extract compared with whole mushroom powder. Whole powder is the dried mushroom milled as it is. An extract is concentrated from the raw material and standardised, which is why the label can state a concentration (40%) alongside the amount delivered per capsule.

Common Questions

What does Lion's Mane actually do?
MitoGenix Lion's Mane provides 1400 mg of standardised 40% fruiting-body extract per serving, taken daily to support normal cognitive function and mental focus. Published research on Lion's Mane is still small-scale and mixed, which is why the dose and the extract are clearly declared on the label.

What are the side effects of Lion's Mane?
In published trials Lion's Mane was generally well tolerated, although a small number of participants reported digestive discomfort or skin reactions. Anyone who reacts to edible mushrooms should avoid it. Stop taking MitoGenix Lion's Mane if any adverse reaction occurs.

Is it safe to take Lion's Mane every day?
Lion's Mane is an edible mushroom, and published trials lasting weeks to months report that supplements were generally well tolerated. Take MitoGenix Lion's Mane as directed, do not exceed the recommended dose, and consult a healthcare professional first if you have a known medical condition.

What should I not mix with Lion's Mane?
Consult a healthcare professional before taking Lion's Mane alongside prescription or regular medication, because interaction research is limited. If another product you use also contains Lion's Mane, count both toward your daily intake. The MitoGenix label declares the extract, its concentration and the amount per capsule.

What is the difference between Lion's Mane extract capsules and powder?
Whole powder is the dried mushroom milled as it is, usually measured out by the spoonful. MitoGenix Lion's Mane is a standardised 40% fruiting-body extract in pre-measured hypromellose capsules, so each capsule delivers the declared 700 mg, with nothing to weigh or mix.

How long does Lion's Mane take to work?
There is no set timeline, and responses vary between people. Published studies on Lion's Mane have run from a single dose to 16 weeks of daily intake. Take MitoGenix Lion's Mane consistently, as directed, and assess it over several weeks of regular use.

How much Lion's Mane should I take daily?
The label's standard serving is 2 capsules daily, providing 1400 mg of Lion's Mane extract 40%. On high-demand days the enhanced serving is 2 capsules twice daily, or 2800 mg. Do not exceed the recommended dose. The concentration and the amount per capsule are both declared.

Can I take Lion's Mane with Alpha-GPC or other nootropics?
MitoGenix Lion's Mane and MitoGenix Alpha-GPC contain different actives: Alpha-GPC supplies choline, while Lion's Mane is a mushroom extract. They can be taken in the same daily routine. For any other product, check its label for Lion's Mane, and consult a healthcare professional if unsure.

How do I choose a high-quality Lion's Mane supplement?
Check that the label names the mushroom part used, states the extract concentration and gives the amount per capsule. MitoGenix Lion's Mane declares all three and uses no proprietary blends. It is independently tested for identity and purity, and manufactured in a GMP-certified facility.

What happens if you take too much Lion's Mane?
Taking more than the label directs is not recommended, and no upper intake level has been established for Lion's Mane supplements. Stay within the standard or enhanced serving printed on the MitoGenix label, and speak to a healthcare professional if you feel unwell after taking it.

Should I take Lion's Mane in the morning or at night?
Take MitoGenix Lion's Mane with food, early in the day, as the label suggests. A serving with breakfast suits its daytime use. If you use the enhanced serving of 2 capsules twice daily, take both servings with food.

Can you take Lion's Mane while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. MitoGenix Lion's Mane is not intended for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, or for anyone under 18, as the label caution states. Safety information for Lion's Mane supplements in these groups is limited, so speak to a healthcare professional about your options.

CAUTION: Store in a cool, dry place or below 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Not intended for children under 18 years, or pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. Individuals with a known medical condition should consult a healthcare professional before using this health supplement. Discontinue use if any adverse reactions occur.
